I’ve compiled a short (just 7-pages) e-book, an introduction to the mathematics of poker. It’s basically covers how to calculate your expected value in a certain spot – starting with explaining what EV is, all …

Grinding Up From 0.02NL

Submitted by on December 24, 2009 – 10:42 amNo Comment

About a week ago, I blew my whole bankroll on Pokerstars (all of about 6USD). I could make excuses for sure, but the truth is, I just played badly.

So, after emptying my account (by losing my whole bankroll), I redeposited another 10USD into my account. My aim is to grind it up, starting at the 1c/2c No Limit Hold’em games, and see how far I can go with it. About a day after the initial deposit (and after losing about another $2.50), I made the choice to buy PokerTracker 3 (the microstakes version).

It’s proven to be really helpful so far. The HUD stats make it a lot easier to track opponent’s patterns, and the stats on myself force me to control my play and not get too loose. Since installing PT3, I’ve won $6.77 in 671 hands, to bring my bankroll up to $14.25.

I’m going to keep at this and see how far I can go. Currently, I’m buying in at 10% of my bankroll, or $1.50, whichever is larger. When I get to $30, I’ll move up to the next level.

And I’m definitely going to be sharing my experiences and thoughts here as I go along.
